Maplewood, Minnesota is found along to northern and eastern borders of St. Paul in Ramsey County; however, it is not the only city in Minnesota named Maplewood.  It was incorporated in 1957 and by the 2000 census had approximately 34,947 people.

 

30% of the cities population reports German ancestry, while 12% report Irish lineage.

 

The city is home to the corporate offices of the 3M Corporation (Post-it-Notes), one of the largest employers in the region. It also houses Myth Nightclub and St. John’s Hosptial.

 

During the 2000 Census there were 14,005 homes with 13,759 of them occupied. The median price of a home for sale at that time was $162,500 with renters paying on average $688 a month in rent. With the median household income being $30,000-$60,000.

 

The majority of homes in Maplewood were built between 1970 and 1990 and range in size from 1 bedroom to 5 or more bedrooms. However, the majority of homes have 3 to 4 rooms.

 

Maplewood residents tend to have longevity in that 62% of residents lived in their home 5 years ago. Of those that did not live in their home during that time frame 57% lived in the county and of those that did not live in the county 64% lived within Minnesota.
